MAKKAH Is the ever sacred spot on earth, visited by billions of Moslems all around the year for Pilgrimage (Haj) and (Ummrah) and it is where prayers are held five times a day everyday, It has,throughout the history and ever since Ismail the Prophet, vastly developed, and has gained utter importance and posture, ever since Prophet Mohamed ?Peace and Prayers be upon him. LOCATION
At the foot of (Sarwat Hills) as it is a confluence for (Tihamah) and (Sarwat) hills. It lies to the Western side of the Arab Peninsula, 75-km west Red Sea and flanked by (Al.Taif) city only 80-km to the southwest. ASTROLOGICAL LOCATION:
On 19.12.25 dgs latitude N and 26.59.39 Longitude E, and 300 m above sea level.
LANDSCAPE:
Mainly granite hills, 20-1912 m above the sea level, where they encompass Holly Mecca.
GEOLOGICAL STRUCTURE
Mecca is considered part of the Arab vest, and its hills are mainly igneous, where igneous granite is dominant and contains many composites, one of which is Quartz and some other sedimentary and metamorphic composites. In general, this geological structure dates back to some ancient geological times, as the rocks have a kind of resistance to internal and external geo-morphological factors. CLIMATE
Mecca lies in the transitional area between the Mediterranean and the seasonal climate, while it is less affected by the Red Sea climate. Mecca lies on the Northern Tropical region, thus hot in Summer and warm in Winter and of very little infrequent rainfall, and stricken by North West winds in Winter. While in summer it is once more stricken by the North East dry winds. PROMINENT LOCATIONS & CITES
Holly Kabaa: First built by our Master Ibrahim and his son Ismail, peace be upon them, and consecutively been built ever since its history. It is located in the proper midst of the Holly Mosque, and of a block-shape and 15 m off ground level. On its eastern front there's a door of 2m off ground level.
The Holly Kabaa has Four Corners: the Black rock, the Shamy, Yamany and the Iraqi corner. On the northern wall there's the (Mirzab) which is pure gold made.
It is said that Prophet Ismail, peace be upon him, was the first man to start putting dressing on the Holly Kabaa, which became a convention ever since. While another saying states that Adnan Bin Edd the great grand father of the Prophet Mohamed, prayers and peace be upon him, was the first man t start putting dress on the Holly Kabaa. But it is quite believed and approved that (Tiebah) of (Himyar) tribe, the king of Yemen by then, was the first man to start that convention, which was mainly Yamenese Dressing.
But when Almahdy, the Abbassiate Khalifa, came on Pilgrimage in 160 H, and saw that he ordered that all the dressing to be removed except one. He then alternatively together with the kings of Egypt used to dress it until an official house for dressing (Dar Al.kisswah) was assigned in 1346 H by King Abdulaziz, the founder of the Saudi Kingdom.
THE BLACK STONE
Hajre-Aswad:
It is a scented black stone fixed in a silver bracket on the left corner of the wall of Kaaba. The stone was brought by Hazrat Adam (AS) from Paradise and all the Prophets and Imam have kissed it. Tawaf starts from this point and ends here. MULTAZIM:
It is the wall between the black stone (Hajre Aswad) and the Gate of Kaaba where the hajjies pray for their wishes.
BAAB-E-KAABA:
This is a beautiful golden door for entering into the Kaaba itself. It usally remains closed for common people and is opened for dignitaries only.
RUKN-E-IRAQI:
The corner where the wall of Baab-e-kaaba ends is called Rukn-e-Iraqi because it faces the direction towards IRAQ.
HATEEM:
From the Rukn-e-Iraq till the other corner (Rukn-e-Shami), a small half circular marble wall is called Hateem, offering prayers (Nawafil) inside it are very virtuous. It should not be entered while performing Tawaf
HAJR-E-ISMAIL:
It is in between Hateem and the Wall of Kaaba where Prophet Ismail and his mother Hazrat Hajira are buried. Nawafil are also offered here.
MIZAB TALLA:
The Wall of Kaaba facing Hateem and Hajr-e-Ismail has an outlet on its roof top for rainwater made up of gold, It is also known as Mizab-ur-rehmat. Supplications and Dua are accepted here by the Almighty Allah.
RUKN-E-SHAMI:
It is on the other side of the Rukn-e-Iraqi and the third corner of the Khana-e-kaaba facing Syria.
RUKN-E-YAMANI:
It is the fourth corner of the Kaaba also known as Mustejar, the same Wall split open to harbour Fatima Binte Asad to give birth to Hazrat Ali (AS) inside Kaaba, The split marks of this event are still visible on the Wall.
SHAZARWAN:
At the foundation Wall of the Kaaba there is a buttress on the east, west and south Walls called Shazarwan.
MAQAMAAM IBRAHIM:
Is the stone rock on which our Master Ibrahim, peace be upon him, stood when building the Holly Kabaa. So, it was of Prophet Mohamed (Sunnah), prayers and peace is upon him, to pray at this Maqaam when He finished His (Tawaaf) (run about) the Holly Kabaa.
MATAAF:
The limits of Khana-e-Kaaba within which Tawaf is performed.
AAB-E-ZAM ZAM:
Opposite to Hajre-e-Aswad there is a well (now its closed to public) called Zam Zam located under the ground of Masjid-Al-Haraam. According to a tradition (Hadees), Zam Zam water is good for health, vitality and cure from diseases.
SIGNIFICANT OTHER MOSQUES OF MAKKAH, MINA & MUZDALIFA
MASJID-E-ARQUM:
Prior to the explicit propagation of Islam the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) used to visit this place secretly
MASJID-E-ABU QABAIS: Also known as Masjid-e-Bilal, It is situated at the mount Abu Qabais where the miracle of the bifurcation of moon took place.
MASJID-E-BAITH:
While coming from Makkah this mosque is in the way to Mina and Prophet (PBUH) used to accept oath of allegiance from the newly converts in Makkah before migrating to Madina.
MASJID-E-TANEIUM:
It is three miles away towards north of Makkah. Also its known as Masjid Aiesha.
MASJID-E-JIN:
The Jins converted to Islam here after listening to the verses of the Holy Qur'an, as is stated in the Sura-e-Jin.
MASJID-E-JARNA:
It is on the way to TAIF.
MASJID-E-HAMZA:
It is situated in the locality of Musfala, the birth place of Prophet's paternal uncle, Hazrat HAMZA.
MASJID-E-KHAOF:
Burial place of seventy Apostles and the biggest Mosque in Mina. It is highly recommended to pray while you are in Mina.
MASJID-E-ZEE TAWA:
On the way to Hajj the Prophet (PBUH) stayed here.
MASJID-E-RAITA:
Situated on the way to Jannat-ul-Moalla, the Prophet (PBUH) hoisted his flag here on the eve of the conquest of Makkah.
MASJID-E- AQBA:
it is situated near Mina.
MASJID-E-GANAM:
It is situated in the locality of Mabda.
MASJID-E-QASAM:
In between the market place it is a small mosque where, during the pre-Islamic period people used to swear to check the truth or a lie. The Prophet (PBUH) offered prayers here.
MASJID-E- KABASH:
Place where Prophet Abraham (PBUH) intended to sacrifice his son Prophet Ismael.
MASJID-E-KAUSAR:
It is situated inside the Bazaar of Mina near the big jamra, where Sura (chapter) Kausar was revealed.
MASJID-E-MASHARUL HARAAM:
Situated in Muzdalifa near the mount of Tarkh.
SIGNIFICANT MOUNTAINS OF MAKKAH
GHAR THOUR:
The Alcove of Thour, It is located in Mount Thour (Jabal thour) on the way to (Kudey) area south Mecca. It is the place where Prophet Mohamed spent three nights in a cave here while migrating to Madina. It also worth mentioning that Mount Thour is 760 m high.
THE MOUNT OF ABU QABAIS:
It is adjacent to the Khana-e-Kaaba. It is said that this was the first ever mountain vreated by the Almighty Allah.
THE MOUNT OF NOOR:
Also known as Jabl-o-Noor, From Makkah on the way to Mina there is a cave on the left side of the mount called Hira, where the Prophet (PBUH) received the first heavenly revelation. You desire or offer Dua, by the mercy of Allah it would be fulfilled. IMPORTANT & SCARED PLACES OF MAKKAH
MOWLUD-UN-NABI:
The birth place of Prophet (PBUH) It is the birth place of the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH). It is in the vicinity of shopping area. Now it has been converted into a library. The present Bus stand is opposite to it.
THE HOUSE OF HAZRAT KHADIJA:
It is on the right side of the mount marwa which now houses, Jewelery shops. It is also the birth place of Hazrat Fatima (SAA) and the death place of her mother (Hazrat Khadija). The Prophet had offered namaz here; this has also been converted into a Madrassa
THE HOUSE OF HAZRAT ABU TALIB:
It is the very next door neighbour of Umm-ul-Momineen Hazrat Khadija, this has also been converted into a Madrassa. |
